    Figure B

Designer Becky Eldenburg uses a mix-and-match template to create unique expressions for her paper dolls. The mood of a little boy getting his first haircut is whimsically captured by the disgruntled expression of the paper doll!

    First Haircut

    Materials:

    12" x 12" blue gingham page
    White 11-3/4" x 11 3/4" paper
    Paper doll (boy)
    Blue 3" x 3" paper squares
    Red 3" x 3" paper squares
    Blue 1" x 1" paper squares
Paper in black and yellow (for shirt and hair)
    Chiseler
    Face Template
Complementary stickers and sticker borders (with barbershop theme)
    Calligraphy pen
    Journaling pen
    White gel pen
    Blue glitter gel pen
    Adhesive

    1. Center white paper on blue gingham background page.

    2. Glue hair and shirt onto paper doll shape.

    3. Next, use face template (figure A) to create a little boy's face.

    4. Use colored gel pens to accentuate features (figure B).

    5. Then, cut paper doll in half.

    6. To create arm movement, cut arm in half, place at an angle and round the elbow area.

    7. Adhere boy to large blue square. Then, mount both to large red square. Set aside.

    8. Place barbershop sticker on center of large blue square, then large red square. Set aside.

    9. Use small blue square to spell out "Blues" -- with a letter on each square.

    10. To complete, embellish page as desired.
