Designer Joanne Clark knows the latest buzz about paper dolls. Here, she uses die-cut figures (i.e., her "paper dolls"), stickers, border to complement the "busy bees" in the matted photos. Materials: "Kid" die-cuts (boy and girl) to match theme Bee motif sticker border Black and white plaid sticker border Bandanna sticker border Bee stickers 12" x 12" white album page Soft yellow paper Black paper White cardstock Photos Foam mounting tape Photo safe glue Scissors Pencil Journaling pen Ruler - Add sticker border to 3 sides of 12" x 12" page. Apply border 1/4" from the edge. Tip: Measure and lightly pencil a guide for easy placement of the border.
- Then, apply black and white plaid sticker border at top edge of page.
- Apply red bandanna sticker border next to black and white border (figure A ), overlapping it slightly.
- Die-cut 2 small bandanna bows from the border. Place bows on bottom left and right corner to accent the bee border.
- Enlarge or reduce 3 photos (with same theme) so that different sizes are created.
- Use yellow paper to mat each photo.
- Add large black paper mat to the small photo. Finish the sides with bee sticker borders. Leave a thin black edge.
- Next, add a larger white and think black paper mat to the medium photo (figure B). Border the top of the framed photo with a section of bandanna sticker border.
- To the remaining photo, add a large black mat and finish the edges with black and white sticker border.
- Trim away excess background from "boy" die-cut, and only the top half of the "girl" die-cut. Use a craft knife to easily eliminate any excess inside the design.
- Die-cut tiny bees from around the girl die-cut (figure C).
- Glue girl's arms and head over the top of the largest photo and the rest of the figure behind the photo (figure D).
- Enlarge two bee stickers on a color copier. Attach to white cardstock for rigidity. Cut the shape from the cardstock to create a die-cut (figure E).
- Arrange matted photos to the album page until balance is achieved. Overlap to create visual interest and adhere into place.
- Create dimension by using foam mounting tape to attach the bee die-cuts and boy die-cut to the page.
- Add journaling and embellish with the tiny bees cut away in step 11.
