Learn to laser-cut designs by watching this informative video tip!

One of the easiest ways to create a delicate, yet intricate effect on a page is by using die-cut shapes that have been cut by a laser -- as designer Judy Gould demonstrates.

    • Layer pale laser die-cuts over the same die-cut in a darker color to achieve dimension (figure A). The darker die-cut is slightly offset to create a "shadow" effect.

    • Tweezers facilitate easier handling and placement of laser die-cuts.

    • Consider stitching laser-cut shapes to the page. Gould stitches the details on a teddy bear, then stitches it to the page using a blanket stitch around the edges. Tip: Piercing the paper with the needle creates small holes that mark placement of stitches and allows the needle to pass through the paper easily.
