Smaller albums are perfect for kids. This album even has clear pockets for memorabilia -- a great way to preserve memories from a special day.

Instead of pumpkin seeds and fall-themed mementos, try flowers petals and seeds for a spring theme, or event tickets for a sports theme. Look for small memorabilia that lends itself to this type of project.

    Figure A

DIY Scrapbooking host Sandi Genovese creates a mini memory book that can easily be adapted to any special event, activity or theme. This memory book commemorates a special fall activity -- a day at the pumpkin patch!

Instructions and templates may be viewed by using

    Materials:

Large sheet of colored paper (to be cut to 25" x 9-1/2")
Die-cut machine or craft knife and die-cut templates
    Clear page protector
    Clear tape
    Double-sided tape
    Memorabilia
    Stickers and embellishments
    Hole punch
    Ribbon
    Pen or marker (for journaling)

    1. Genovese creates "windows" that will reveal mementos from the trip. First, die-cuts rectangles are cut into the accordion fold album. She marks the position of the windows on the paper or cardstock, then positions a clear die over the registration marks on the die-cut unit.

    2. Next, she slides the unit into the machine (figure A) and presses the handle down. (Keep in mind that windows can also be cut by hand using a craft knife, or by using the machine at the local scrapbooking supplier. Using the die-cut machine allows all windows to be created uniformly at one time.)

    3. The windows are turned into photo pockets when covered by clear acrylic squares. The pockets are filled with fall-themed stickers, a pumpkin-pie recipe, pumpkin seeds and a die-cut of a jack-o'-lantern.
