    To create the crown:

    1. Measure and cut a 5" wide strip from your 12" x 12" piece of card stock.

    2. Measure and cut a 3" strip from the remaining piece.

    3. Fold the 12" x 5" strip in half and cut out scallops with the ends measuring approximately 1-1/2 inch wide.

    4. Tape the remaining scallops together in the center.

    5. Measure ribbon to go around a child’s head and long enough to tie a bow.

    6. Measure and mark across the bottom of the crown base from the left: 1/2", 1", 2", 1-1/2", 2", 1-1/2", 2", 1", 1/2".

    7. Cut slits wide enough to thread your ribbon through, stopping 1/2 inch from the bottom.

    8. Thread ribbon through the slits and trim the ends of the ribbon, if frayed.

    9. From a 3" x 4" rectangle, cut a half-circle with decorative scissors.

    10. Cut your acetate in half into two 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" pieces, and then cut each of those into two pieces measuring 5-1/2" x 5-1/2" and 5-1/2" x 3".

    11. Cut the 5-1/2" square into a teardrop shape, with a 1-inch-wide flat top (not to a point) and cut tiny strips almost to the edge of the flat bottom, so that you create long fringe strips that wave individually and catch the light.

    12. Layer your pieces: the "crown" base with ribbon on the bottom, the taped scalloped piece, the acetate with long fringe at the top, and the half-circle on top. The pieces on top should "sit" just above the ribbon on the base.

    13. Punch two holes approximately 3/4" apart. Be sure that all of the layered pieces have the holes through them, as these will be attaching all of the pieces together.

    14. Thread a short piece of ribbon through the holes from back to front and through again. Cross the ribbons in back and thread through the opposite hole to come back through to the front. You will have created what looks like a bow.

    15. From the 3" square, cut a circle. It does not need to be perfect.

    16. Make short cuts with your scissors, approximately1/2" to 3/4" from the edge at the top, bottom and on each side. From that point, make the same cuts in between the first cuts. You should have eight 1/2" to 3/4" cuts that are opposite each other.

    17. Start cutting from the top of each "petal" around to the end of the cut. Go all the way around and cut each petal. After completing this, turn the "flower" over and finish up the other side of each petal.

    18. >Fold each petal inward to give a 3-D effect.

    19. Adhere the flower to the crown, just above your "mock" bow. Add jewels and other decorations as you like.

    To create the fairy wand:

    1. To make the fairy wand: Cut two flowers, as above (figure A).

    2. Cut a strip of ribbon approximately 24" long. Tie a bow with the ribbon. The loops do not need to be very "full" but approximately 3" long (when looped) and the knot should be pulled VERY tight.

    3. Cut the loops on the bow in half to create six strands. You may trim the ends of the ribbons in a "v" cut.

    4. Take a long, wooden skewer and start with ribbon at one end. Glue or knot it, and then twist it all the way down to the end of the skewer, where you will need to secure it so it will not unravel.

    5. Get the smaller piece of acetate that you cut earlier and cut it in half lengthwise.

    6. Fringe both pieces from each end, leaving 1/2" or so in the middle.

    7. Layer your pieces: Adhere one flower, turned upside down, then glue one of the acetate "fringes" on a diagonal, then glue the ribbon in place with the knot in the middle. Glue the other acetate "fringe" on the opposite diagonal from the first and glue the top flower, face up (figure B). Note: Hot glue works best with acetate.

    8. Add jewels and other sparkles -- as desired -- to embellish the magical fairy wand.

    9. To make the secret fairy autograph book: Measure and cut 2-1/2" x 12" strips from a piece of 12" x 12" card stock.

    10. Measure along the length of two of the strips and mark at 2-1/2" intervals. Score those marks.

    11. Begin folding accordion-style, back and forth, until you get to the end, where the last fold will NOT be the same length as the others.

    12. After folding both of the strips, find where the two short ends will overlap to create a "page" the same size as the others, and glue them together.

    13. Find the front page of the book and cut two small slits, approximately 1 inch apart, wide enough to thread your ribbon through. This will serve as the closure for your little album.

    14. Thread the ribbon through, loop it around the book, and tie a bow.

    15. Decorate your book as you like, with a small flower on the front, with jewels and glitter and stickers inside and out.

Each child will be able to sign every other child’s book and they will have there own little fairy book--complete with all of their friends’ signatures!
