Limited Edition black and white letter tiles
miniature black brads
3L black paper photo mounting corners
12" steel ruler
quilter's cutting mat with cutting grid
1. Place steel ruler 3 inch down from top of plain side of railroad paper using the cutting mat as a guide. 2. Ink and stamp the foam square attached to the stylus handle with sepia black ink into the exact center of the page, at the 6-inch mark on the ruler.
3. Stamp a line of squares across the top of the page, leaving 1/2 inch between each square.
4. Stamp "1935" into the top right four squares with the Journeys alphabet stamps.
5. Use sharp scissors or a button shank remover to cut the back from a patterned button.
6. Glue the button top to the flat side of a champagne cork (figure A). Allow to dry.
7. Ink the top of the button with sepia black ink and stamp the image (figure B) over the stamped squares.
8. Plan photo placement and add additional square and button stamps.
9. Create page title by attaching black and white letter tiles.
10. Add miniature brads to the center of three stamped squares on the right page.
Tips:
Heritage photos are not required for this technique! Use contemporary photos that are color copied in black and white or sepia tones for the same effect.
Remember that not all "blacks" are created equal. Be sure to experiment with different shades of black, like black/brown or black/gray
