    1. Spread out a roll of fabric and with a permanent marker, trace a piece of card stock onto the backing, and then cut the piece out. If you do not have an adhesive-backed fabric, use a pencil so that the ink won’t bleed through, and spread a fabric adhesive such as Fabri-Tac to the back of the fabric after you have cut out the tracing.

    2. Peel half the backing off the paper and then apply the paper to the adhesive side of the fabric (figure A). The adhesive is repositionable, so you can peel it off if you don’t get it straight on your first try. When you have the first half on straight, peel back the rest of the backing and press the paper onto the fabric.

    3. Turn the paper over to the fabric side, and using a clean brayer, role over the fabric to smooth any wrinkles. If you have a bad wrinkle, you may have to lift the fabric and reposition it.

    4. With scissors, trim away any excess fabric from the edges of the paper.

    5. Fold the paper in half and use a bone folder along the edge to get a firm crease. The fabric added to the paper makes the paper more difficult to fold smoothly. Fold each additional sheet of card stock you want to add to your book, and use the bone folder to set a smooth line to the edge. The number of card stock pieces you use will depend on the size of your book. I used four, including the cover, but you can use up to about eight with this book.

    6. With a large hole-punch, punch two holes in the cover. Don’t worry too much over placement, as long as it is roughly centered, your eye won’t notice! You will need to put one folded sheet inside the cover, make a pencil mark where the holes are punched, and then punch that sheet. Add the next sheet, inside the previous piece, mark the holes, and then punch the holes in that sheet (figure B).

Note: This is important because your hand is not strong enough to punch all the card stock and fabric at once. Due to the thickness of the card stock, each hole falls slightly more towards the fold, and so it should be punched individually to make sure it lines up.

    7. Cut and thread a piece of coordinating ribbon through the holes, and tie into a bow. Make sure you tie the bow on the side of the book that will be the "front." If you prefer, use art fibers and coordinating beads for a different look.

    8. Decorate the front cover of the book with the coordinating ribbon that comes in the FabriCraft kit. Just trim the ribbon to size, pull off the backer, and press it in place. For additional embellishment, add ribbon, rhinestones, or other embellishments with Fabri-Tac or Gem-Tac.
