    1. To make the custom papers: Cut or tear the tissue paper into manageable sizes (about 8" x 10") and place on a sheet of wax paper.

    2. Drizzle the desired colors of paint on the tissue paper, more at one end than the other. Remember--a little goes a long way.

    3. Cut a piece of watercolor paper about the size of a credit card (or use an old credit card) and, starting at the end with more paint, drag it across the paper (figure A). Repeat until the paper is covered with paint. Note: Try not to overwork the paint or it will all blend together and you will lose the effect. Puddles or pools of paint are desired and will enhance your project.

    4. Set aside to dry, preferably overnight.

    5. Cut a piece of Fabricraft Garden Script to the desired size and apply following package instructions to the 3" x 10" watercolor paper.

    6. Put a small puddle of Dynamo Blue and Jazzy Purple on a paper plate. Using the soft-bristle brush, coat the entire paper, including Fabricraft area, with Sheer Color Finish.

    7. Pick up a touch of paint on the corner of the brush and begin blending it across the paper. Keep picking up touches of paint and brushing it across the paper until the desired effect is achieved. Let dry.

    8. Following the package instructions, mix Pattern Builder with Jazzy Purple; add touches of Silver and/or Dynamo Blue to tint to desired color.

    9. Brush out a thin coat of the mix onto the 1" x 6" watercolor paper, and stamp into it with the Architectural Medallion stamp (figure B). Note: If the mix is applied too thickly, you will not get a good impression; less is better.

    10. Stamp a piece of 1-1/2" x 3" watercolor paper with the Memories stamp using the Jazzy Purple, applied with a Stamp and Stencil sponge (figure C). Let dry.

    11. Apply a light coat of Sheer Color Finish to the surface, following the steps as outlined above. The tint colors are Jazzy Purple and Dynamo Blue. Let dry.

    12. Remove the cover from the journal.

    13. Using the 1-inch soft-bristle brush, apply one smooth even coat of Jazzy Purple to the cover. Let dry.

    14. Apply a second coat of Jazzy Purple to the cover and, while still wet, add streaks of Gold, Silver and Dynamo Blue. Let dry.

    15. Tear the painted tissue papers into smaller pieces and lay on journal cover. Arrange as desired; then secure in place using the Decoupage Finish, following package instructions. Let dry.

    16. Apply a coat of Decoupage Finish to the front and back of each of the watercolor pieces and set aside on a piece of wax paper to dry. The watercolor paper tends to curl when it gets wet; applying a coat of Decoupage Finish before trying to apply it to the journal will help deter this.

    17. Continue layering elements on journal as desired using the Decoupage Finish, following package instructions.

    18. Let dry thoroughly. Return cover to journal.
