Instead of elevating stickers from the page -- why not give them depth? This technique creates a layered window through which the stickers are viewed.

Love working with stickers, but find they sometimes fall flat? Raise your level of expectation -- and give your stickers depth -- with this dimensional technique offered by New York host Joy Macdonell!

    Materials:

    Craft knife
    Ruler
    Pencil
    Foam tape
Stickers (in this example, stickers from Stickopotamus® are used)

    1. Cut cardstock into a 2-1/2" x 11-1/2" strip, then cut a contrasting color of cardstock into a 2-3/4" x 11-3/4".

    2. On back surface of the 2-1/2" x 11-1/2" strip, measure and mark pencil lines at 1/2" from all four edges.

    3. Beginning at the end of the strip, make 1/2" in, them measure and mark a 1-1/2" square.

    4. Continuing from the 1-1/2" square, measure 1/2" and create a new mark. Then, measure and mark a 1-1/2" square. Continue this pattern until the end of the strip is reached (figure A).

    5. Mark an "x" in the 1-1/2" squares, then cut squares from the strip (figure B) using a craft knife and metal ruler (or use a square punch if available).

    6. On back of the 2-3/4" x 11-3/4" strip, begin measuring and marking pencil lines 3/4" from the long edges and 1-1/4" from the ends.

    7. Beginning at the end of the strip, mark a 1-1/4" square, followed by a 3/4" increment. Alternate measurements until the end of the strip is reached (figure C).

    8. Mark an "x" in the 1-1/4" squares along the strip. Use metal ruler and craft knife (or square punch) to cut squares from the strip.

    9. Adhere smaller strip on top of larger strip (figure D), then place foam tape along the back of the border and adhere to scrapbook page.

    10. Place sticker or other embellishments in the windows to create a look of dimension (figure E).
