Want more control over the appearance of your photographs and the way they work within your layout? Don't want to spend a small fortune on special scanners, cameras and graphic software? Host Sandi Genovese and guest Kathryn Chambless have the solution: the Kodak PictureMaker.

Chambless used the Kodak PictureMaker to change the orientation of a special photo from horizontal (landscape) orientation to vertical.

Some additional functions the Kodak PictureMaker can perform are:

    • Enlargement of photos
    • The creation of multiples in a variety of sizes -- from wallets to 8" x 10"
    • Zooming and cropping photos so you can get the shot you really want
    • Red-eye reduction/elimination
    • Restoration of color to old or faded photographs
    • Addition of text and/or borders to photographs
    • Creating prints from a disk or CD
    • Saving of images in digital format (CD)

    Simple Pleasures

Check out Kathryn Chambless' technique for creating a page -- with the help of the Kodak PictureMaker -- the celebrates her son's first outing in the rain!

    Materials:

Aquamarine vellum from Over the Moon (or other softly colored geometric pattern)
    Navy cardstock
    Green cardstock
    Blue vellum
    Green vellum
    Eyelets
    Zig Writer pen
    Sticker letters
    Green fiber threads
    Vellum tag
    Small brad
    Paper trimmer
    Microtip scissors
    Adhesive

    1. First, use the Kodak PictureMaker to scan, alter and size photos to be used in the layout.

    2. Attach 12" x 12" page to background cardstock. Use eyelet to secure at upper left and right corners.

    3. Mat photos. On main photo, leave a 1" mat. Cover the border with squares and rectangles cut from vellum.

    4. Adhere the matted photos to page.

    5. Cut square for title and create using letter stickers and pen.

    6. Embellish title blocks with vellum squares and rectangles in various sizes. Cut a strip of cardstock for top of title block.

    7. Add eyelets to the title block, then create the look of a "hanging" title. First, string fiber thread through the eyelets. Hang title from a brad attached to the background.

    8. Journal on vellum tag and hang from the main photo with eyelets.
