Wired Ribbon Photo Mat: Anna Griffin (Salt Lake City) From "Special Presentation" episode CRP-S

Many heritage photos have unusual shapes. A gathered ribbon mat is the ideal way to show off an oval photograph. Figure A Figure B

A gathered wire ribbon mat is a romantic, elegant way to surround a special photo.

1. Crop photograph and surround with a die-cut frame. Make sure that die-cut shape covers the edges of the photograph.

2. Circle photograph with wired ribbon one-and-a-half times to ensure that enough ribbon is used.

3. Pull wire on one edge of ribbon slightly, then fold inward (this will prevent wire from sliding out of ribbon).

4. Pull wire on opposite end to make gathers (figure A). Continue to pull until entire length of ribbon has been gathered.

5. Form gathered ribbon to the shape of photo and die-cut frame.

6. Adhere gathered ribbon to page (figure B), then top with the photo and frame.
