John DeSilvia was born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y. Even as a child DeSilvia knew he wanted to be a builder, so right out of high school he enrolled in the Pratt Engineering School. While working as a union carpenter during the day and attending classes at night, he eventually graduated with a degree in engineering.
After graduation, he assumed supervisory roles with two of the world?s leaders in the construction industry learning to apply his training in real world situations. In 1989, DeSilvia felt it was time to branch out and open his own company and Design Tech was born.
