Knoxville, Tenn. August 2005 Airstream enthusiasts will love whats coming to DIY Network this fall. New episodes of the popular series, Classic Rides, to premiere October 7 at 9 pm ET/PT, will showcase the renovation of a 1970 27-foot "Overlander" International Land Yacht Airstream. In 10 episodes, Classic Rides host Kevin Tetz takes a road worn and dated Airstream and replaces, repairs and upgrades the RV systems and appliances. He also transforms the interior with a "modern industrial" look with classic overtones."In the first installment of Classic Rides, we covered vintage motorcycles and classic scooters and we knew we couldnt ignore the classic travel trailers! Airstream and RV travel across the US is a favorite pastime for many people today. This series will be informative and fun for many of our viewers and RV enthusiasts not just to those who hit the road in an Airstream," says Bill Sykes, vice president of programming for DIY.
In the first episode, DIY introduces viewers to the Airstream and Tetz inspects and "tears out" the Overlander. In subsequent episodes, he tackles major appliances such as the water heater and pump; restores the bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom; and much more.
"One of my favorite things about being involved with Classic Rides is the education that I receive through research and restoration of these classic vehicles," explains Tetz, "and Airstream is a true American Icon as well as a fantastic success story that personifies the incredible vision and dedication of Wally Byam, the founder of Airstream".
Step-by-step project instructions related to each episode will be available at DIYnetwork.com, DIYs companion website, once the show debuts October 7.
