A production potter for more than 30 years, Bill van Gilder, host of DIY Pottery, has traveled around the world to teach and exhibit his craft. For his training, he's traveled to studios in Ireland, England, Africa and across the US. He began his potting career at the age of 15 and is a graduate of the Harrow School of Art in London, England.
Since 1999, van Gilder has been on the faculty of The Art League School in Alexandria, Va., where he teaches pottery skills and techniques to more than 100 students each week. In 2000, he founded the Frederick Pottery School in Maryland.
