Use the two-step system (see instructions, left) to work with PVC pipes.

Ask DIY home repair expert Brad Staggs says PVC pipes are much easier to work with than their cast-iron cousins. To connect PVC pipes, use a two-step system: - Prime the PVC pipes with a cleaning solution (found in hardware stores).
- Apply an adhesive (also found in hardware stores) to both pieces and attach securely.
Note: The adhesive will harden in seconds, so be careful.
