Sandy Howard, marketing manager for Deck the Walls, explains how to layer picture frames to create a custom look. Materials: Acid-free matte board Baby shoes Velcro® Adhesive transfer tape Foam board Craft knife Ultraviolet glass Three frames made from frame molding in graduated sizes and coordinating colors - Cut matte board to the desired measurement.
- Put Velcro hook tape on the bottom of the baby shoes and the corresponding loop tape on the appropriate spot on the matte board. Hook the baby shoes to the matte board (figure A).
- Cut foam-board pieces to the outer dimensions of the matte.
- Stack the foam-board pieces, gluing them together with acid-free adhesive transfer tape. Position the stacked foam-board pieces around the edges of the matte board, creating a shadow-box effect and adding dimension (figure B).
- Place a cut-out matte on top of the foam-board pieces (figure C).
- Place the ultraviolet glass over the matte board.
- Add the three molded frames one at a time (figure D).
