Olga Ponce Furginson -- a master paper cutter -- demonstrates the technique of Mexican paper cutting. Materials: Tissue paper of any size Scissors Craft knife - Begin by folding tissue paper in half.
- Then fold paper in half three more times, folding over in the same direction each time (figure A). For paper smaller than 8-1/2" x 11", fold only twice.
- Cut corners off top (figure B) to create a pointed edge.
- Cut shapes along the side edge (figure C).
- Open the first edge and continue cutting (figure D).
- Repeat the opening and cutting process until all edges have been cut.
Tips: - Experiment with folding and cut shapes to create different effects.
- Do a trial run on inexpensive paper before beginning the project.
