    Figure D

Painting expert Julie McGuffee uses a basic decoupage technique to enhance a papier-mache rabbit.

    Materials:

    Papier-mache rabbit
Acrylic paint in white and pink
    Paper flowers
    Doilies
    Decoupage cutouts and lettering
    Paintbrushes
    Natural sponge
    Scissors
    Thick craft glue
Paper plates or small plastic containers for the paint and water
    Water
    Spray sealer
    Low-temp glue gun and glue
    Moss
    Silk flowers
    Ribbon

    1. Apply one coat of white acrylic paint to the papier-mache rabbit. Let dry. Apply a second coat if necessary. Spray paint may also be used.

    2. Pour pink acrylic paint onto a paper plate or into a small plastic container. Dip a natural sponge in water, then in the paint, and sponge it onto the rabbit. Let dry (figure A).

    3. Cut out pieces of doilies, paper flowers, words of wisdom or anything you like. If desired, tear the edges for a soft, feathered look (figure B).

    4. Spread thick craft glue on the backs of the cutouts, and glue them to the rabbit. Let dry (figure C).

    5. Seal with a matte or glossy spray sealer.

    6. Hot-glue small pieces of moss around the rabbit's neckline. Hot-glue silk roses on top of the moss (figure D).

    7. Tie a small bow, and hot-glue it to the top of the neck.
