Now that wall-treatments, bunk beds and storage lockers have been installed, the finishing touches on the baseball-theme kids' room include the addition of a few team logos, window treatments and baseball-related furnishings.

    Pendant Window-Treatment

A window cornice was created that incorporated team pendants for each of the teams that Ken Griffey Sr. had played for during his career.

    Materials:

    Lumber for frame
    Fabric batting
    Denim fabric
    Staple gun; staples
    Team pendants
    Miniature baseball bats; baseball
    Nails
    Wood screws
    L-brackets

    Steps:

    • Begin by creating a half-box by fastening four pieces of wood with finishing nails (figure A).

    • Wrap the finished box in batting (figure B).

    • Wrap denim fabric over the batting, and attach the fabric and batting with staples (figure C) making sure that the fabric is taut as you fasten it.

    • Staple the pendants to the underside of the cornice (figure D).

    • Pre-drill and install two of the miniature bats and a baseball to the front of the cornice, following the same technique used in the earlier segment on wall-treatments.

    • Attach the finished cornice to the wall using L-brackets (figure E).

    Other Accessories

    • In addition to the window cornice, other finishing touches in our kids' room included bedspreads, pillows and rugs with team logos (figures F and G).

    • These touches combined with the wall treatments, bunk beds and lockers (figures H and I) create a fun and functional environment for young sports enthusiasts.
