The satisfaction of fly-tying comes from catching fish with a handmade creation.
|
Fly-tying creates a "fly" that will lure fish to the surface of the water. Fly-tying is exclusive to fly-fishing -- the fastest-growing area of fishing -- and uses fur, feathers and thread to imitate the appearance of insects and camouflage the fishhook. Hobbyist Dave Schaffer says fish can actually recognize colors, but the presentation and size of the fly are more important than color when it comes to fooling fish.
