    Valerie Taylor demonstrates some advanced croquet techniques.

    • Rouquette croquet involves hitting both balls at the same time (figure A). This technique is similar to sending.

    • A stop shot moves the opponent's ball, but the player's ball doesn't move.

    • One defensive stroke, the split shot (figure B), is similar to a billiard shot. Two side-by-side balls can be hit at the same time. The split shot is both an offensive and a defensive move in that it can move the player's ball toward the wicket while moving the opponent's ball away.

    • A jump shot is used to move the player's ball over the opponent's. The mallet is aimed toward the bottom of the ball to make it jump.
