Materials (figure A): Smooth river rocks
Gold leaf
Gold-leaf adhesive
Craft knife
Small paintbrush - Wash rock thoroughly. Wait for it to dry.
- Paint a shape onto rock with the adhesive. It's important to be as exact as you can here because, once stuck, the gold leaf doesn't come off easily.
- Wait at least 8 hours for the adhesive to dry.
- With a craft knife scrape a word into the gold leaf (figure B).
- Scratch around the border of your shape. This will give it nice texture.
Tip: Don't worry if the letters don't come out perfect. They actually look better when they're all rough and scratched up. Products: Gold leaf and its adhesive can be found at most craft stores. The river rocks can be found in nature.
