    Susan Khalje demonstrates a technique for creating a flirty layered skirt and matching scarf (figure A).

    Materials:
    1-3/4 yards chiffon fabric for each layer
    3 yards satin bias tape
    7" invisible zipper
    1 yard 1/4" elastic
    Two-layer skirt pattern

    Sewing notions:
    Thread
    Scissors
    Iron
    Invisible zipper foot
    Serger
    Seam gauge
    Dressmaker's chalk

    Steps:

    1. Stitch together the right sides of the underskirt (red fabric)and serge the edge (figure B).
    2. Stitch together the right sides of the overskirt (floral fabric)and serge the edge.
    3. Baste the overskirt and underskirt together at the waist.
    4. Baste and serge together top and bottom layers of the skirt on each side.
