Shracket™ Shrug + jacket = shracket. From "Uncommon Threads" episode DUCT-140

Marlene Polnett, of Crochet Nation, shows how to use the shrug pattern to make a shracket (a shrug/jacket combination) by adding a collar, lengthening the back and sleeves and adding a bell to the bottom of the sleeves.

Materials:

TLC Amore (#3220, Wheat)
crochet hook, US size P
darning needle

Gauge: dc, ch 1, dc = 1-1/8"

Abbreviations:
ch chain
dc double crochet
sl st slip stitch
tog together

Start by crocheting a shrug (see Segment 1 instructions). After closing up the second sleeve, do not end off.

Turning a Shrug Into a Shracket

Foundation row:
Turn the shrug right side out. Sc in the seam, *sc in the dc, sc in the space created by the ch.* Repeat from * around. Join with a sl st. Ch 4.

Increase row:
Dc at the base of the ch 4, *ch 1, dc in the next sc,* repeat from * around. Join with a sl st in the 3rd ch. Ch 4, turn.

Pattern row:
*Skip ch. Dc in next dc, ch 1, skip next ch, dc in next dc,* repeat from * around. Join with a sl st in the 3rd ch. Ch 4, turn. Repeat pattern row 6 times (for a total of 7 rows counting from the increase row.) End off.

Making the bell sleeve:
Join yarn to the seam of first sleeve with a sl st. Repeat instructions for foundation, increase and pattern rows from shracket pattern above. Work 4 rows total counting from the increase row. End off.

Repeat for the second sleeve.

Finishing:
Hide ends.
