    Checkbook Cozy
    Materials:

2 clear or tinted vinyl pieces, 13"x7-1/8"
    paper image, 12"x6-1/8"
    scissors
    sewing machine
    fabric glue or pins
    pinking shears (optional)

    1. Place the paper image between the two layers of vinyl. Carefully stitch around the edges of the image. If you are using two separate images for the front and back of the cover, you will need to stitch a seam between them to hold them in place.

    2. Use plain scissors to trim the excess vinyl from the two short ends. Cut close to the stitching, leaving only about a 1/8" border.

    3. Lay the image right side down and fold both short ends 2-3/4" up towards the center. These will be the pockets that you insert your checkbook into. Stitch up each side of the pocket, reinforcing the tops with backstitching so that they don’t rip with wear.

    4. Repeat with the second pocket.

    5. Using decorative scissors or pinking shears, trim the excess vinyl from both sides of the cover. If you don’t want to be fancy, you can use plain old scissors.

    6. Fold the entire thing in half so that the pockets are on the inside, and you’re done!
