    SCRUMBLE 1
Leaf Motif (make 2 of 2 different colors)
Using two size 3 or 4 double-pointed needles (DPNs), cast on 3.
    K3, turn.
    P3, turn.
Add one stitch by Kfb of stitch at each end, each row, until leaf is as wide as you like. Continue straight stockinette or garter for several rows till you want to start decreasing.
To decrease: Sl 1, K1, PSSO at the beginning and K or P 2 together at the end of each row until 3 stitches remain. If 4 stitches remain, K1, K2tog, K1 so 3 stitches remain.
    Slip 1 K 2 tog and PSSO.
Finish and cut tail about 6 inches. Leave tails long to use later for stitching pieces together.

    Knit slip stitch around edge:
Insert needle in edge and pick up 1 stitch. Pick up next stitch and slip first stitch over. Pick up next stitch and continue to pass previous stitch over so 1 stitch remains each time.
You can do a crochet slip stitch or sc if you prefer.

    Half Rounds
Using two, size 5 DPNs and a new color, cast on 13 stitches.
    K all stitches, 3 rows.
    Row 4: K1.
Leave all stitches on 1 needle and pass all 12 stitches over the first stitch and off the needle. Use a crochet hook if it’s easier.
Turn and pick up 1 stitch from beginning of round. 2 stitches on needle.
Pass first stitch over picked up stitch. Pull tail through and cut.

Place the 2 leaves next to each other with the half round between them and stitch them together to make one piece with the tails. Whip stitch on WS. Don’t trim tail too short as you will tuck them all under the fabric when you sew them to the top of the slippers.

    Rice Stitch Triangle
With size 5 DPNs and a new color, pick up an odd number of stitches along 1 straight side of 1 leaf on RS.
Purl 1 row all stitches. Turn.
Rice Stitch 3 rows (P1, KBL1, P1 to end. Turn and K all stitches).
    Row 4 : Sl 1, K1, PSSO. Knit across to last 2 stitches. K2Tog.
    Row 5: Rice stitch (P1 KBL1 P1 to end).
Repeat these 2 rows until there are 3 stitches on needle.
Sl 1, K2Tog PSSO. Cut and pull tail through.
