    Fabric-Back Pillow
    Materials:
    yarn - Rowen Handknit Cotton, 100-percent cotton, 93 yrds/85m, 1-3/4 oz/50g
      2 balls of dark green (#316)
      2 balls of light green (#309)
    knitting needles - size 9 or size to obtain gauge
    crochet hook: size "F" or size to obtain gauge
    14" square pillow form
    1/2 yrd ultra suede (or a piece big enough to make a 16"x 16" square)
    1/8" hole punch
    marking pen
    large eye yarn needle

    Knitting Gauge
    20sts and 32 rows = 4" in slip st

    Slip Stitch Pattern
    Designer's note: always slip sts purlwise

    Row 1, 2: With dark green yarn, k.

    Row 3: Change to light green yarn, slip 1 st , * k 2, slip 1, repeat from * across (figure A).

    Row 4: *move yarn to front and slip 1, k2* repeat across, ending slip 1.

    Repeat these 4 rows for pattern.

    Pillow Front
    Cast on 70sts and begin slp st pattern. Work until piece measures 14". End yarn (figure B).

    Designer's note: measure gauge as you work. Sometime this pattern st has a tendency to get smaller.

    Cut ultra suede into a 14" square. On reverse side mark a dot 1/4" in from the edge and 1/3" apart around entire pillow.

    Use the hole punch to make a hole in the ultra suede on each dot (figure D).

    Crochet Edging (figure E)
    With crochet hook and light green yarn, insert hook into any hole from the right side to the wrong and pull up a loop, ch 3 (counts as sc & ch 1), *insert hook into next hole and work a sc, ch 1 * repeat around entire pillow working 3 sc in each corner, ending with a slp st to second ch, ch 2 turn. Work a hdc into each st around, working 3 hdc into the center of the 3 sc from previous row, ending with a slp st into the second ch. End yarn.

    Finishing
    Sew knit pillow top to the crochet edge of the pillow back on 3 sides. Insert pillow form and then sew up last side.
