In finishing the garment, we'll be adding adjustable straps as well as a hidden elastic band in the bodice.

Bind off extra loosely so the zigzag patter n at the bottom doesn't get distorted.

With smallest needle, pick up stitches around back neckline and work 2 rows of garter st, bind off. Repeat at front and underarms.
For back straps, M1 using strand of yarn left hanging at strap, knit sts from holder, M1. Work back and forth on these 4 sts in Garter st for 1". Bind off. Repeat this on other side of back, and on fronts, making front straps 16 (16, 16, 17, 17, 18, 18)". Weave the front strap through the slide and ring (follow the steps below and the diagram at right, or use an old bra to figure out the construction of straps).

Follow the simple steps at left to thread the straps correctly.
    1. Weave strap through slide with the outside bars on top and the center bar underneath.

    2. Put strap through ring, which is already sewn to shorter back strap as shown.

    3. Loop tip of strap through center bar and sew strap to itself.

    Elastic Casing

With the tapestry needle, make a casing for the elastic with a row of Xs worked invisibly on the inside of the lower bodice (be careful to hide the stitches that could show through on the front of the garment) (figure A). Use a safety pin or bodkin to runthe elastic through the casing; fasten off by sewing the ends securely together.

With the crochet hook, make tie for front out of single crochet, 40" in length. Weave tie in and out of front (figure B).
