Materials:Crystal Palace Yarns Mikado Ribbon, color #2679 sewing needle and thread 40 6mm glass beads U.S. size 5 (3.5mm) double-pointed bamboo needles U.S. size 7 (4.5mm) double-pointed bamboo needles Note: Remember that many yarns are seasonal and could be discontinued. If the specific yarn called for is not available, purchase a substitution yarn that comes closest to the specified gauge in your pattern. And be sure to make that all-important swatch to see whether the yarn works for your particular pattern. To thread Mikado Ribbon with beads, proceed as follows:
Thread sewing needle with a fine thread. Tie thread to yarn, leaving about 3" at end of the yarn. Thread bead onto sewing needle and then onto yarn (figure A), pushing the bead farther down the yarn as you add beads. When you have 40 beads on the yarn, make sure they are far enough down the yarn to avoid being worked in during cast-on and ribbing. Note: As you work, it will be necessary to push the beads that are not being used farther away from the work. CO 36 sts on #5 dp needles. Work k3xp1 ribbing for 3 rnds. Change to #7 dp needles.
