Once your new knit bikini is finished and ready to wear, there's only one thing lacking: the perfect cover-up. Tina Whitmore hasn't let you down: she's designed this great beaded sarong to tie on in a flash! Pardon us for asking, but how can this be sarong when it's so right?
Materials
1 skein Fixation in Chartreuse
2 skeins Tahki Cotton Classic in Turquoise (color D)
Needles: U.S. size 13 straight
Assorted beads (we used TKTK)Thread the beads onto your yarn as follows:
Thread a regular sewing needle with a length of cotton sewing thread and tie a double knot at the end. Thread the knitting yarn (Tahki Cotton Classic) through the sewing thread loop (figure A). Now you can thread your beads onto the sewing needle and onto your yarn.

Definitions
YO Wrap yarn under needle toward and then away from you one time.
K2tog (K3tog) Knit two (three) stitches together as one.
PSSO. Pass slipped stitch over (similar to a bind-off stitch).1. Thread all the beads you will be using, so that you don't have to cut your yarn to thread more beads if you run out. If you want to create a specific pattern with the beads, remember to thread them on in reverse order. 2. Thread (90,100) 110 beads onto Color D yarn, then cast on (100, 111) 122 sts using size 13 (9mm) needles. 3. Work 1 row in P. It's important to place a marker after the first and every following eleventh stitch to help you keep track of the pattern repeat as you go. Sarong pattern repeat worked over a multiple of 11 sts plus 1.
Row 1 (right side): *K1 with bead, YO, K2, YO, K3tog, Slip 1, K2tog, PSSO, YO, K2, YO. Repeat from * to last st. K1 with bead.
Row 2 (wrong side): P all sts.
Repeat these two rows until all threaded beads are used up, then continue as follows:
Row 1 (right side): *K1, YO, K2, YO, K3tog, Slip 1, K2tog, PSSO, YO, K2, YO. Repeat from * to last st. K1.
Row 2 (wrong side): P all sts. Continue in pattern, repeating these two rows until you reach the desired length on the sarong, then make the side ties. Cast on 11 sts at beginning of next 6 rows (166, 177) 188 sts. Work in pattern for 4 more rows. Bind off. For additional strength at the waist, make an I-cord in color B of the Cascade Fixation that is 4 sts wide and 52" long. Weave this along the top edge of the sarong in and out of the loose stitches. For additional detail, you can sew some beads onto each end of the I-cord.
