Now that you've had a chance to familiarize yourself with symbolcraft, here are some more stitch patterns to try. Since they're all variations on techniques you've already learned, only the charts are featured. Remember to follow the stitch key (have you noticed that it's pretty much like reading a map?) to determine the pattern; you'll be amazed at how quickly you'll commit it to memory so that you barely have to refer to the chart. Then, when you're ready to add another dimension to your work, you may want to attempt a project that features beading -- we've included written instructions as well as charts to help refresh you memory on these two techniques. Finally, we've included a few bonus patterns for your enjoyment!

Knitting With BeadsBeads Between Stitches: Prestring beads onto yarn. On purl side, just bring a bead up close to the needle after completing one st and before beginning the next. Notice how bead winds up between the two purl sts. On the knit side, knit to st before desired bead. Purl the next st, bring bead up close to needle, purl the next st, then resume knitting. Alternatively, bring yarn to front, sl the next st, bring bead up to needle, sl yarn to back, continue knitting. The bead is on a slipstitch float to the right side. Beads Hooked Onto a Stitch: 1. Insert small crochet hook (small enough to go through hole of bead) into bead hole. 2. Work to within st where bead is desired. 3. Place that particular st on crochet hook. 4. Pull st through bead hole (thus hoisting bead onto st and off hook). 5. Replace st onto left needle and either knit or purl st.
