    (MC) Berrocco Softwist (59 percent rayon, 41 percent wool; 100 yd/92m per hank);
    Color: Noveau Berry, 1 hank
    (CC1) Berrocco Softwist (59 percent rayon, 41 percent wool; 100 yd/92m per hank);
    Color: Gray Granite, 1 hank
    (CC2) Crystal Palace Fizz (100 percent polyester;120 yd per skein); 1 skein (or small amount)
    1 set US #6/4mm straight needles
    1 size-F crochet hook
    1/2 yard fabric (any kind) for lining
    Tapestry needle

    Gauge
    20 sts/24 rows= 4" in stockinette stitch (double-stranded)

    Before you begin, be sure to wrap a measuring tape around you as if it were a guitar strap (figure A). This will give you the desired length. (Tip: It will be easier if you have someone help you with this step.)

    Pattern
    With #6 needles and MC, pull from both ends of ball so you'll knit with two strands at a time. CO 3 sts.

    Row 9: K3, YO, K2tog, K to end (this creates hole for the strap peg to fit through).

    Work in st st until piece measures 2-1/2", ending on a WS row.

    Knit Bits: You don't have to use your CD notebook just to store CDs anymore: it's also a great place to keep your circular knitting needles (figure B).

    When double-stranding yarn for a project, keep in mind that you will need to increase your needle size, and therefore your gauge is going to change. It's important to knit a swatch before starting your project!
