Lawn expert Jamie McMurray shares basic steps in reseeding a lawn: - Mark the location of existing sprinkler heads.
- Rake up dead grass from the lawn.
- Use a rototiller to aerate the lawn (figure A).
- Apply top-quality seed to thin spots in the lawn (by hand in small areas or with a drop spreader in large areas.)
- Apply seed cover (a thin layer of mulch).
- Press seed into soil using a lawn roller.
- Keep seed moist at all times by watering frequently.
