Steps
1. Lay a piece of 1/4" plywood across the top of the entertainment center and mark where to make the cuts.
2. Using a circular saw, cut the plywood top.
3. Attach the top, making sure it is flush on all sides, and nail into position.
4. Take the measurements of the side panels and make the appropriate cuts.
5. Attach the side pieces the same way you attached the top.
6. Remove the old doors on the entertainment center.
7. Measure the edge all the way around the unit.
8. Rip a piece of the plywood to create an edge.
9. Nail the edge in place.
10. Add 1/2" trim to conceal the exposed wood.
11. With all the panels in place, measure the opening, width and height and cut the plywood.
12. For the two doors, measure the width of the entertainment center. Golden added some 1x4s on the doors for a decorative look that resembles a barn door.
13. Now you can paint the entertainment center.
14. Apply hinges to the doors and then attach the doors to the unit.
Expert tip: Old doors or shutters with peeling paint should be sprayed with clear polyurethane to keep them from flaking.
Tips: For a different look, try placing the wood in an X pattern.
Instead of plywood, you can use beadboard for the doors.
Expert tip: The wall frame of an old Murphy bed makes a perfect anchor for a large entertainment center
