    Fancy Leashes
    Materials:

    pet leashes
ribbon (the same width as, or slightly smaller than, the leash)
    glue stick
    scissors
    sewing machine
    3 silk flowers
    3 rhinestone shank buttons
    sewing needle
    heavy-duty thread

    1. Measure the length of the leash and add 1" to the length (don’t measure the handle part of the leash). Cut the ribbon to the length measurement.

    2. Turn the raw edges of the ribbon under 1/2" and glue the ribbon back onto itself to create a finished edge. Using a sewing machine, sew the ribbon down the length of the leash (figure A). If you don’t have a sewing machine, you could also use heavy-duty fabric glue.

    3. Break apart and separate the layers of silk flowers from the plastic part. Turn the leash ribbon side up and place the layers of the flowers on the leash toward the handle. Eyeball the placement depending on the size of the flowers.

    4. Sew the shank buttons in the center and through the layers of the silk flowers onto the leash (figure B).

Note: Shank buttons don’t have holes that show: they have a little half-circle on the back that you sew through.
