    Ingredients:

    3/4 c. hot water
    5 Tbsp. margarine
    1/2 c. powdered milk
    1 tsp. salt
    1 egg, beaten
    3 c. whole wheat flour
    bone-shaped cookie cutter

    1. Place the margarine in a large bowl and pour hot water over it. Then stir in powdered milk, salt and egg. Finally, add the flour, 1/2 c. at a time (figure A).

    2. Knead the mixture several minutes to form a stiff dough (figure B). Pat or roll the dough to a 1/2" thickness. Using a bone-shaped cookie-cutter, cut out the biscuits (figure C).

    3. Bake at 325 degrees for 50 minutes. Cool on a rack. This recipe will make 1-1/4 pounds of treats, which will dry hard. Store the treats in a container with a tight-fitting lid.

Note: You can make training treats by using little scoops of dough and cutting the baking time in half.
