In this segment, Kelly and George make a room screen to soften a corner of the bedroom. The screen consists of a wood frame that is then covered with fabric. Kelly and George make two panels and then attach them with cabinet hinges.
Materials:5 2x4s cut to desired size (per panel) wood screws staple gun fabric hinges drill scissors
1. Attach the 2x4s (cut to desired size) at the corners to form a rectangular frame. Use either 1-1/2" or 2" wood screws, depending on the thickness of the wood (figure A).2. Attach the fifth 2x4 horizontally across the frame, using wood screws (figure B). 3. Cut the fabric the size of the frame, adding a couple of inches for overhang on the back. 4. Stretch the fabric tightly over the frame and staple in place on the back of the frame (figure C).
5. Trim away any excess fabric.6. Repeat this process to create the desired number of panels needed for the screen. 7. Use hinges to attach the panels together, attaching two hinges at the top and two at the bottom of each panel.
