It's time to add the finishing touches. Beautiful floor-length curtain panels are hung on either side of the windows, and a sheer café curtain is added to each; a console receives a slipcover out of the same fabric used for the runners; and fabric shades are added to the room's chandelier.
Café CurtainsMaterials: fabric pins scissors sewing machine/needle and thread measuring tape rod 1. Measure the length of the area to be covered by the curtain panel; add 8"for the hem and 6" for the rod pocket. 2. Fold a double 4" hem at the bottom; pin in place and sew. 3. Turn in the side hems; pin and sew. 4. Fold the top of the panel down with a double 3" hem; pin and sew. This creates the rod pocket. 5. Simply slide the rod through the top pocket and hang.
Chandelier Shades With TrimMaterials: fabric scissors lamp shape spray adhesive glue trim 1. Cut the fabric according to the size of the lampshade. 2. Cover the lampshade with spray adhesive; place the fabric on the lampshade and smooth into place. 3. Glue the ends of the fabric on the inside of the lampshade to cover the top and bottom edges. 4. Glue trim along the bottom edge for a decorative touch.
Sideboard TableclothMaterials: fabric tape measure sewing machine thread pins scissors fabric pencil 1. Measure the length and width of the tabletop 2. Determine the desired amount of table cloth overhang; add this number plus one inch to the tabletop measurements. 3. Place the fabric wrong side up on a cutting board. With a fabric pencil mark the desired table cloth dimensions and cut the fabric. 4. Fold the raw fabric edges under one inch. 5. Pin the tablecloth hem so that the pins are perpendicular to the edge of the fabric. 6. Finally sew around the entire hem. Table Mat Materials: two types of fabric (one decorative and one backing fabric) sewing machine complementary colored thread for sewing machine 1. Determine the dimension of the table mat by measuring the table length and width (the dimensions should allow 10" of exposed table surface on all sides). 2. Trim fabrics to size, leaving enough on all sides for seam allowances. 3. Place the two fabrics on top of each other. Fold the backing material face up and the show fabric face down, then pin in place. In our case, we selected a brown microsuede for the top and a silk for the backing material. 4. Once the seams are pinned together, sew a standard topstitch around the mat.
