In this segment, April gives Betsy a primer on three ways towels can be monogrammed: premade monograms can be ironed or stitched on; monograms can be done professionally at a monogram shop; and monograms can be applied at home with an embroidery machine or a combination embroidery/sewing machine (the technique used in this project).

Materials:towel and/or bathrobe embroidery machine hoop stabalizer quilt basting spray 1. Pick out the font style that you want to use (figure A); this will tell you what hoop size you need. 2. Determine where on the towel you want the monogram (figure B) and spray the area with quilt basting spray. Then lay a sheet of stabilizer on top and press it into place. Now lay the towel on top of one hoop, making sure the stabilized area is in the middle; then put the other hoop on top. 3. Make sure you set the embroidery module in place. Turn the embroidery foot on, drop the feed dogs and press start. Then sit back and let the machine do all the work (figure C).
