In this segment, Kelly and Travis cover a wastebasket with fabric. The fabric is attached with spray adhesive and the raw edges covered with trim. They also line a basket with fabric, hot-gluing it in place and tying a ribbon on for decoration.
WastebasketMaterials: wastebasket fabric scissors fabric spray adhesive ribbon (for alternative look) 1. Measure the circumference and depth of the wastebasket, adding a couple of inches for overlapping and trimming. Transfer the measurements to the fabric and cut out the pieces. 2. Make sure the fabric pieces properly cover the wastebasket before gluing them down. 3. Next spray fabric adhesive over the entire wastebasket. Wrap the fabric around it, making sure to smooth out wrinkles. Turn the excess fabric over and trim. Then spray again and press in place. 4. As an alternative to gluing the edges down (figure A), you can pink the ends and tie them down with a ribbon (figure B).
BasketMaterials: fabric scissors chalk glue gun/glue ribbon (optional) 1. Mark and cut a circle that is two to three times bigger than the basket (an easy way to do this is to fold the fabric in half and mark and cut a half-circle). 2. Place the circle in the basket and push the extra fabric through the handles on either side (figure C). 3. To keep the raw edges from showing, fold the fabric under (figure D).
4. Use a glue gun to press the fabric in place.5. For an added decorative touch, tie a ribbon around the basket (this also helps hold the fabric in place) (figure E).
