    Materials:

    two coordinating fabrics
    scissors
    needle and thread
    pins
    buttons

    1. Begin by measuring the window and cutting two pieces of fabric (one of each design) according to the measurements. Also cut a piece of cording and cover it with a piece a fabric that was cut on the bias, or diagonal.

    2. Lay the two pieces of fabric right sides together. Pin in place with the cording between the two fabric pieces. Stitch around the perimeter, removing pins as you go. Stop sewing about 2' before you finish so that you can turn the valance right side out. Once you have turned the valance, sew the opening closed.

    3. Next flip the fabric pieces over about 6" or so and make marks where the loops will be. To make the loops, cut strips of fabric to desired size.

    4. Pin the loops at the marks and tuck under the raw edges. Then sew in place using a zigzag stitch.

    5. For extra decoration you can add buttons at the loops.
