1. Red lampshades are spray-painted flat white. When you're spray-painting, hold the can 10"-12" away from the surface of the object being painted and keep it moving for an even coat of paint (figure A).
Safety tip: Wear a protective mask when working with spray paint.
2. Small amounts of each of the three paints are mixed with water to thin the consistency (figure B).
3. A foam brush is dipped in each paint color and pressed against the top of each shade, letting paint drip down the outside (figure C).
