    Weather Gadgets

    • Casio Solar Pathfinder Triple Sensor Watch—This is a solar-powered wristwatch that is also a stopwatch and mini-weather unit perfect for all of the weather fanatics and people who love being outdoors. It has an altimeter, a barometer, will give you temperature readings, and it will also automatically store them in its memory so that it can let you know if it detects any abnormal patterns. The digital compass will help you get where you're going, and the daily alarm will help you get there on time. It has a solar power feature that is really great. You will never have to change a battery. It is water-resistant for up to 100 meters, and it can also withstand extremely cold temperatures. The cost start at approximately $100.

    • Sharper Image Personal Cooling System—These are personal cooling systems. They are better than any fan or spray of water to keep you cool when it is hot outside. Basically you place it around the back of your neck, add a few ounces of water to it, and a quiet motor drives a tiny fan that makes you cooler. It works on batteries and is pretty lightweight. The cost is approximately $50.

    • Hammacher Home Weather Monitoring System—There are all types of these monitors around and they are great for someone who is obsessed with their local forecast. It accurately keeps you up-to-date on temperatures, rainfall, barometric pressure and more depending on your location. You mount it to a high location in your yard—about six feet high—and it will give you readings—it feeds it to the receiver inside your house. It will tell you the current moon phase, sunrise, and what the rest of the day is looking like. These cost approximately $300, but it is pretty innovative and a must for people who are always asking—what's the weather today.

    • Wishing Fish Illuminated Umbrella—There is a bulb inside under the canopy that will light your way home if it is raining in the dark. It takes batteries and provides about three hours of light. The material of the umbrella is "cool" too—it is very durable and has a futuristic type of look. The cost is approximately $40.

    • Hammacher Electra Heated Vest and Innovative Sports Heated Jacket—If you want to have something that is innovative and keeps you warm—this vest is pretty "cool." It is a heated vest. Using carbon fiber technology and rechargeable batteries, this vest will generate heat for over four hours. You can even adjust the levels. You remove the charge when you want to wash the vest. It is great for winter. The heated jacket has a Lithium battery inside the jacket that is the size of a deck of cards and fits comfortably against your body. It heats up to 140 degrees—so it keeps you very warm. Lots of sports players use this when warming up before the game. These types of vests and jackets are expensive—up to $200. But, if you are cold, sometimes you will do anything to stay warm.
