- Begin by taking out the old glass. Make sure you remove all the old glazing points.
Note: Glazing points are small metal fasteners that hold the glass in place (figure A) Safety Tip: Make sure that you wear your safety goggles when working with glass. - Make sure the tacks are removed from the window.
- Use a rag to clean the window.
- Use your fingers to put glazing putty around the edge of the frame to create a bed-like cushion to hold the new piece of glass in place (figure B). Use a thin layer of putty, you don't want to use too much. You can wet your fingers occasionally to help get the putty in.
- Clean your new piece of glass and gently lay the glass into the frame.
- Use a putty knife to remove the excess putty.
- Use a pair of pliers to put the glazing points in around the glass (figure C).
