Linda Cobb (right) reveals the four products you must have around the house for your cleaning chores.
There are certain cleaning products that should be stored in every cleaning closet or storage space. DIY's Cleaning Made Easy expert, Linda Cobb, reveals the cleaning products everyone should have on hand.

    Materials:

    soft cloths
    buckets
    baking soda
    water
    white vinegar
    dishwashing liquid
    tablespoon measure
    teaspoon measure
    club soda
    paper towels
    borax
    1 cup measure
    1-1/2 cup measure

    Cleaning With Baking Soda

    • Odor Eating Socks—To make odor-eater socks, mix one gallon of warm water and 1/4 cup baking soda. Soak freshly washed socks in this for 30 minutes. Spin out in the washer (do not rinse out the solution). Stick in the dryer and you will have odor-eater socks.

Removing Shoe Marks With Baking Soda

    • To remove heel marks from a hard floor, take a damp cloth and dip it into baking soda. Rub heel mark until it disappears.

    Cleaning With White Vinegar

    • When hand washing dishes and crystal, add 2-3 tablespoons of white vinegar to your water to cut grease and increase shine. You can also add 1/4 cup of white vinegar to the final rinse when doing laundry. This provides softness to clothes and towel and causes no fabric softener build-up. Also, to clean a plastic shower curtain, throw dirty shower curtain, your regular laundry detergent, some light colored towels, and one cup of white vinegar into the washing machine. Wash as usual and hang immediately. This removes soap scum and mineral deposits.

    Cleaning With Club Soda

    • Club soda is great for polishing appliances like ranges, microwaves, toaster ovens and more, but it's also a good spot remover for clothes. Let's say you spill a little tea on you, just dip a paper towel into club soda and blot out.

    Cleaning With Borax

    Spot Stopper:

    1 cup Borax
    1/2 cup baking soda
Use 1 tsp. of mixture with detergent (run dishwasher as usual)

    • This is great to throw into the dishwasher with your regular detergent as a spot stopper. Combine 1 cup of borax, 1/2 cup baking soda and put 1 teaspoon of this mixture in dishwasher with detergent. You can also use Borax to clean baseball caps in the dishwasher. Use borax instead of dishwasher detergent. Dishwasher detergent would bleach the caps.
