    Materials:

    bar soap
    baking soda
    ammonia
    toothbrush
    vegetable oil
    liquid dish soap
    water
    cloths
    shampoo
    non oily make up remover

    Removing Makeup Stains

    • There is a great bar soap you can buy called Fels-Naptha. It is usually in the laundry isle at the supermarket. Just dip the bar of soap into some water and then rub it into the stain and work up a lather. Then work it between your thumbs until the stain is gone, and then lauder as usual.

    • For makeup like foundation, blusher, eye shadow, eyeliner, and mascara it is very simple. Wet the stain with cool water. Use bar soap on a wet washcloth and rub with the soap. Rub this in well. This is an exception to the royal rule of blotting. After you have rubbed the stain away, launder as usual.

    • If the garment is dry clean only, use "Energine Cleaning Fluid" directly on the spot. Make
sure to use a cool blow dryer to keep a ring from forming on the fabric.

    • For oily makeup stains (like cover up), usually liquid dish soap or shampoo will remove these makeup stains, but when it won't sprinkle baking soda directly on the makeup smudge, then brush the area with an old wet toothbrush until the makeup is gone. Launder as usual. For really stubborn stains, use a non-oily makeup remover.

    • Lipstick is an oily dye stain, so rub in vegetable oil with a cloth. You can also use mineral oil or WD-40 lubricant. Let this sit on the spot for 15-30 minutes. Next, dab a bit of ammonia to the spot. Before you launder, work in a little undiluted liquid dish soap with a cloth to be sure you have removed all of the oil. Toss into the washing machine and launder as usual using your standard detergent.

Royal Tip: In an emergency, use hairspray. Let it sit for a few minutes and then wipe with a damp cloth.
