    Caring For Your Tools

    • When you want to clean your putty knife and it has been left out, soak it in water. Afterwards, take it out of the water and brush off any remaining putty.

    • Use a five-in-one scraper to scrape your putty knife when dry.

    • Don't be cheap when buying paint brushes. A good brush will be one where the bristles are straight and together. Also, pull on the bristles to see if they come out.

    • An old coffee can is a good place to store paint brushes. Store them in the can with the handle side down, or hang them on a nail.

    • If you are in a rush and dealing with a wet paint brush, put it in plastic wrap. If you know it will be several days before you return to the painting, you can put the brush wrapped in plastic wrap in your freezer for up to two months!

    • Be careful with how you store your power cords. Take the time to curl them up and then use a twisty.
