Materials:your favorite picture frame (your picture included) hot glue gun grosgrain ribbon Fray-Check ruler pencil Transform Ordinary Frame with Ribbon - The first step is to determine how much ribbon you are going to need. You will want four pieces of ribbon, one for each side of the frame opening.
- Start by measuring your frametop to bottom and around the back. Return to where you started and double that number.
- Add both together and that will give you the amount of ribbon you will need, and then add four.
- You need a 1" overlap for each strip of ribbon.
- Use hot glue to secure the ribbon to the frame. The glue may bleed into the ribbon leaving a dark circle where the glue has been applied. So, you will want to attach the ribbon to the back of the frame out of eyesight. Pull the ribbon taut and then you may need to straighten it out on the front of the frame.
- Aesthetically one strip of ribbon on each of the four sides is perfect but not the limit. You can use one layer of ribbon or several (figure A)you can even do a weave design.
Note: Unless your frame is a perfect square you should have two strips of ribbon that are longer. It doesn't matter whether you attach the longer ones or the shorter one firstthat is a personal choice. However, whichever way you choose, you will need to glue both long ones before you glue the short one, or glue both short ones before you glue the long ones. Choose a ribbon that is thin enough so that it won't overlap the backing of the frame. You need to be able to gain access to the photo when necessary.
