    Materials:

    2 fresh light bulbs
    L.E.D. light bulbs
Lutron Table Lamb Dimmer with Remote
    Forever Flightlight II
    Wireless Floodlight Camera X-SVS-1/PAR-38

    • You can purchase wonderful fluorescent light bulbs that not only light up your home, but also breaks down household odors leaving your rooms smelling nice. There is a coating on the bulbs that have oxidizers which break down and eliminates odors when the light is on. They are great because they use less electricity--23 watts of energy in this bulb will deliver the equivalent of a 100 watt incandescent bulb (figure A). They last longer too--approximately 10,000 hours. They cost under $15.

    • L.E.D. (light emitting diode) light bulbs (figure B) are more energy efficient and last for decades. They are just hitting the market and are expensive--approximately $25 a bulb. They consume less energy and burn brightly for years.

    • There are a lot of different types of dimmers on the market. You can purchase dimmers with remote controls now--for those who don't like getting up and changing the dimmer setting all the time. They cost approximately $25 and are for any lamp. They are easy to install. You just plug it into the socket and plug the lamp in. It is also great if you are outside and want to turn the lights on before you come into the house. More expensive dimmers cost around $100 and are smaller and have more features.

    • The Forever Flashlight is great (figure C) because it requires no batteries. All you do is shake it back and forth for 15 seconds and you will get five minutes of bright light. It uses electromagnetic energy so there is no bulb and no batteries needed. They cost under $30 and are great to keep in your car for years and years because they will always work. Some are waterproof and are made to see long distances.

    • Another great lighting idea is a wireless flood light. It is simple to install and you don't have to have wires all over the place. It is like screwing in a light bulb--really simple. Some of these come with a security camera. It has a decoder that plugs into any TV so you can have a surveillance video feed instantly. They are a bit expensive--they cost approximately $150.
