Organizing Child's Art Work- There is only so much room on the refrigerator for all of your child's precious art work. Try hanging clotheslines on the wall (figure A). Hang them at three different levels and give your kids a bag of clothes pins. Have your child talk to you about the picture or drawing--why it is so special and what they were thinking when they drew it. Perhaps you can reserve that clothesline for their favorite pieces. You can hang a line in their room, the kitchen, etc.

The refrigerator is only one of many ways to display your child's art work.

- Another method is to hang strips of felt from a dowel rod and allow kids to pin their art work directly to the felt (figure B).
- A great way to display art work all around the house is to put them in large Lucite box frames (figure C). They come in a variety of sizes for all kinds of art projects. You can find these frames at any craft store and they are very inexpensive as well. Buy a few different sizes and perhaps display them on the hall table, in the family room, or in your bedroom. They can easily be hung on the wall or have easel backs to go on any surface or shelf.
- Framing a child's art work really "legitimizes" it in terms of establishing it as a real, well-considered decorating choice. Think about creating mini-galleries for your kids. Each one gets their own hallway in the house for hanging art work on. Also they are very easy to swap out so you can allow for frequent "new exhibits."
- Another great idea is to laminate art work and create placemats (figure D) that you can give relatives or use during meals or messy arts and craft projects at home.
